This photo shows renovation work on a Guarani house. This marks important progress for us Guarani, since it is a way to combat Chagas disease, which is still untreatable. The disease is transmitted by blood-sucking bugs that live in the straw traditionally used to make roofs and walls. Chagas disease eventually causes the internal organs to fail.
